⚔️ Loot and Combat Guide for 4.0

If you want to be optimally prepared for FPS missions, avoid unnecessary risks, and collect loot as efficiently as possible, then you’re in the right place. In this guide, we take a detailed look at the current FPS mechanics, as a lot has changed since the updates to the loot system. Looting has become a bit more challenging, so we will show you the different ways to collect loot efficiently, the requirements, and provide some tips for missions in both legal and illegal areas. With this guide, you will be optimally prepared for the FPS missions currently available in [Music] Verse.

Basic Requirements for Looting

We start with the basic requirements and the best methods to collect loot. If you want to loot on a larger scale, we recommend at least a tractor beam attachment or a multi-tool, or the MaxLift tractor beam. To pack loot, you need SCU containers. At least one SCU container is sufficient, but we recommend a 2-SCU container as these fit into most ships and through most doors. Basic equipment such as a tractor beam and containers can be found at any space station on the corresponding cargo decks for purchase.

For those with more extensive needs, we recommend taking an 8-SCU container if you have a suitable ship. There are two main philosophies here: using a ship large enough to take an Orsam Metavic with you for respawning, or using a ship with a built-in respawn function such as the Pisces C8R or a Cutlass Red. Larger ships like the 890 Jump or the Carrack also have a respawn function but are less suitable for solo missions. In any case, you should bring a mobile spawn option or medical equipment with you to ensure that if something goes wrong, your collected items and mission progress are not completely lost.

Essential Equipment Checklist

  • Sufficient armor
  • At least a handgun
  • Tractor beam attachment with multi-tool or MaxLift
  • At least one SCU box
  • A respawn option, either in the ship or with an Orsam Red (the medic variant)

This gives us the optimal basic requirements for all FPS missions in the current game state. You can find these missions mostly in the Mercenary tab in your mission manager or as a Head Hunter mission. These missions are generally similar: fighting attackers, supporting local security services, or targeting high-ranking individuals within a bunker system.

Looting Mechanics

To take loot with you, you need a container. One or two SCU containers are recommended as they fit through doors, especially in small bunkers. The loot system has its shortcomings but offers a lot of immersion. Each item must be physically placed in a box and then transferred to a larger box individually. With a container, you save a lot of work and time. However, be cautious as opponents may continue to respawn, so stay alert or take a friend with you.

Currently, the mechanics do not allow pulling items directly into your container. You must undress opponents piece by piece, collect weapons individually, and load them step by step. This process is immersive but tedious, especially when dealing with large enemy groups or equipment. Without a container, you can only wear the looted armor directly, leaving your current armor behind.

Handling Loot at Space Stations

Once you have collected loot, transferring it to your inventory at a space station or resident planet is not straightforward. Land as close as possible to your cargo elevator. The easiest option is to transfer your entire container to your warehouse. The objects remain in the container, and you can open it to sort the items individually. Using the cargo elevator, you can transfer the objects to your inventory.

If you are traveling without a container, you must generate individual boxes by removing armor piece by piece. Use the storage access area to transfer items back into your inventory. The cargo elevator can also be used, but you must manually anchor each box in the cargo grid.

Illegal Missions and Deactivating Com Stations

Illegal missions can be worthwhile as opponents may have special armor or weapons. Use a mobile spawn option to avoid restarting the mission if you die. Deactivating com stations with a hover bike prevents receiving a crime stat. Hover bikes are not tracked by defense systems, allowing easy entry. You need a hacking card, which can be acquired legally in the Microtech area or through missions. Once the hacking process starts, confirm it repeatedly to avoid interruption. Be aware that other players may receive a mission to kill you and reactivate the com station.

With the com station deactivated, you can carry out illegal missions without receiving a crime stat. However, other players can reactivate surveillance at any time, so keep an eye on the surveillance display in your HUD.

Medical Basic Care

Regardless of your profession in Star Citizen, always carry medical basic care in the form of a medigun. This allows you to heal yourself, revive others, and administer drugs to suppress injuries temporarily.

With these tips and preparations, you are ready for a successful hunt.
